Leaf and yard waste will be picked up at the end of October, in mid-November and at the end of April and May.
“We are working to improve city service levels in our rural communities and this is another step in the right direction,” said Mayor Larry O’Brien in a press release.
This change is in response to needs identified by rural residents to help streamline services in areas that are sparsely populated, or on roads where residences are farther apart.
“A number of rural residents have raised concerns about the level of service in leaf and yard waste pick-up. By adding two pick-up dates each season, we are not only meeting the needs of our rural communities, but making improvements for a cleaner and greener city,” said Coun. Doug Thompson in a released statement.
Residents can call the city’s 311 line for more information.
More yard waste pick-up for rural areas
Starting this fall, the City of Ottawa will increase leaf and yard waste pick-up in rural non-village areas to four collections a year.
