Diamonds and sports fields re-open

The city’s sports fields and ball diamonds, which were closed over the weekend and into Monday due to rain, were opened today for public use.

The fields were closed Friday, Aug. 24 to allow them to dry out after weeks of heavy rainfall.

A city advisory notes that grass on some fields might be quite long because crews have not been able to cut the grass due to water build-up. Crews are now working to get all the fields back into the best condition possible.
