The change in name and format follows on the heels of the Orléans Star’s redesign, which was relaunched on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The sister newspapers have adopted similar names and the same clean and dynamic look to provide both readers and advertisers with continuity. Residents and business leaders only have to remember the name The Star when they think about their source for community news.
Feedback from community members regarding the change has been positive.
Orléans Chamber of Commerce executive director Peter Stewart indicated that a common brand will be “much better.”
He explained that not everyone in the community realized The Star and Weekly Journal were published from the same organization.
Meanwhile, Beacon Hill North Community Association president Tim Tierney shared his enthusiasm for the change with a comment on www.EastOttawa.ca, noting the East Ottawa Star is “a great paper” that serves his community.
“Wonderful work, Patricia (Lonergan) and Terry (Tyo),” he wrote of the relaunch.
We at The Star want to carry the excitement to the next level. That’s why we’re asking the community to celebrate with us by nominating their Star. Not only is it a great way to thank someone for their selfless acts, there’s $2,000 in prizes available.
We want to hear about the people who make a difference in our lives, whether it’s a neighbour who shovels your driveway or an emergency responder who went above and beyond the call of duty.
