inations for the 2010 Heart of Gold Awards are now open. Hosted each year by Galipeau, the awards provide an opportunity for local organizations to nominate a volunteer for recognition.
“The Heart of Gold Awards serve to honour those in our community who make sacrifices to serve others,” Galipeau said in a statement. “Last year through this event our community acknowledged the work of over 100 men, women and youth who embody the best of our community.
“I encourage all local community groups that do work in Ottawa–Orléans to nominate an individual for recognition,” Galipeau continued. “It is my privilege and honour as Member of Parliament to recognize the good that is done in our community.”
Organizations and individuals wishing to make a nomination are invited to contact Amanda Iarusso at 613-995-1800 or by e-mail at amanda@royalgalipeau.ca. They can also submit their nomination online at www.royalgalipeau.ca/en/volunteers.
This year’s event will take place at 7 p.m. on May 4, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 632, 800 Taylor Creek Dr.
