Orléans Lions Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

The Orléans Lions Club will be holding their annual spaghetti dinner in the St Joseph’s Church Hall on Friday 04 November. There will be a chinese auction of items and a draw. This event raised several thousand dollars last year from the dinner and the auction.  Table reservations for groups may be arranged ahead of time. Snowflake Bazaar

Catholic Women's League Craft Fair

Join us on Sat. Nov. 5 from 8:30-2pm at 3092 Innes Rd. in Blackburn Hamlet and start your Christmas shopping early.  Choose from craft tables featuring Christmas wreaths and decorations, jewellery, children's clothing and toys,handmade aprons, slippers and sweaters plus much much more.  Home baking is available with pies, cakes, cookies and squares at the bake table.  Stay for lunch and enjoy one of our delicious home made soups and sandwiches while the Café offers coffee and a variety of muffins.  Free parking and admission. Christmas Craft Fair and Art Sale

The May Court Club of Ottawa is hosting their first annual Christams Craft Fair and Art Sale, Saturday November 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 114A Camerone Avenue. There will be art, baked goods, jams & preserves, ugly sweaters, knits, candy, Christmas wreaths, centerpieces, tree ornaments, silent auction, and so much more. Enjoy refreshments in our festive tearoom with live chamber music in the early afternoon. Admission is free.


The Knight of Columbus, council Jean-Paul 1 #8585 organize their monthly bingo on November 6th, 2016 at the St-Sebastien Parish at 1000 Frances St. in Ottawa. This bingo will be held from 1 to 4 pm approximately.  The doors open at 12pm (noon). All are welcome.

Fashion FunRaiser

The Fashion FunRaiser will be held on Tuesday, November 8th at Shepherd’s Fashions Train Yards from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Tickets are $50.00 and available from The Club during office hours 613-733-4681. Guests will be greeted with a glass of bubbly, and served wine, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and a chance to win door prizes and bid on a silent auction. As you know, Shepherd’s is a strong supporter of community events and we are delighted to be joining forces with them to present their fashions.  10% of the sales during this show will go to supporting The May Court Club’s community service projects.

Friday, November 11 Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Orléans Legion.  Parade forms up at 10:30 a.m. and marches to the cenotaph at the Orleans Legion for the ceremony at 11 a.m.  Open House in the Legion following the ceremony.  Avoid the crush of downtown, come to your local legion on Nov. 11.  For further information call 613-830-9984.

Good Shepherd Parish Annual Charity Auction

The Good Shepherd Parish on 3092 Innes Road will be holding their annual Charity Auction on Friday, November 11, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Everyone is welcome. Come join the fun and get a jump on your Christmas shopping. The funds raised will be for food hampers for the needy in our community.

Remembrance Day Walk

Friday, November 11, 2016,Time:  9:30am-noon,Trail Information:  various lengths- Level 2B, Location:  Meet at the Champagne Baths, 321 King Edward Avenue, Ottawa. Exit highway 417 at King Edward through Sandy Hill passing Rideau Street to 321 King Edward Avenue.  Champagne Baths are on the right. Fee:  $2.00. This will be a group walk of the Champagne Baths Tribute to the Forces Permanent Trail with  a stop at the National War Memorial service for the 2 minute silence at the 11th hour.  A group lunch will follow at a location to be determined. Blackburn Arena Re-Opens

The Blackburn Arena will officially re-open on Saturday November 12th with a ceremonial puck drop at 10:00 am, followed by 8 straight home games (Novice to Midget)!!! The entire community is invited to help WELCOME HOME THE BLACKBURN STINGERS.  Come on out and enjoy the music, bbq, snacks, memorabilia, silent auction and great amateur hockey.

Meet the Author

'Meet the author' event is being held on November 12, 2016 at the Cumberland branch of the Ottawa Public Library, Lori Nash Meeting Room, 1599 Tenth Line Road, between 3.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. Chat with a local author and look at his debut fiction Quest For Second Sex. Greater Avalon Community Association AGM

The Greater Avalon Community Association (GACA) will be hosting its Annual General Meeting on Thursday November 17th from 7:30 to 9:00 pm at the Aquaview Community Centre, 318 Aquaview Drive, Orléans. The GACA covers the area from Innes to Wall Road and Tenth Line to Trim; if you live in this area, you are automatically a voting member. There will be a meet and greet session starting at 7:00 pm. Christmas Lights Walk

Sunday, December 11, 2016, Start Time: 5:00pm-6:00pm (Trail closes at 8:30pm). Trail Information:  5 & 10 km Map Walk- Level 2B. Location:  Connors Irish Pub, 2401 St, Joseph Boulevard, Ottawa, ON; K1C 1E9 (613-837-5050), Fee:  $2.00. Take highway 174 east to Jeanne d'Arc Blvd exit, turn right to the traffic circle, enter the traffic circle in the left lane and exit the third exit travelling East on St. Joseph Blvd to Connors Pub on the left just past Orleans Blvd traffic lights. Ladies Auxiliary Branch 632 Royal Canadian Legion Needs You

Transportation Drivers

The Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre is in need of Transportation Drivers to take seniors to medical appointments and Friendly Visitors to visit seniors in their homes.  All volunteer roles with EORC are done during the weekday.  Transportation Drivers must have their own vehicle and care a minimum of $2M liability insurance.  Both of these roles require a police record check.  Please contact Gayle for further information at 613-741-6025 x106 or

Carpet Bowling and Cards

Seniors 632,  at the Royal Canadian Legion 632, 800 Taylor Creek Road, Orleans, invites you to come out and enjoy Carpet Bowling and Cards with us. We meet every Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. for Carpet Bowling and Euchre in the afternoon at 1:00 p.m., also every Friday afternoon, at 1:00 pm. for Whist. Activities include potlucks, Sugar Bush, Mini Putt, Casino trips and Christmas dinner. Membership fee is $15.00 per person/per year. Lunch is served at the Legion by Peter from 11 – 2.
