Charity car show
On June 22 a charity car show for the Orléans Cumberland Food Bank is being held, complete with some really great entertainment for all ages! For children, there will be a bouncy castle and a super clown named Little John. For the car lovers, Vincent Fumo's dragster all the way from Montréal and Maremont exhaust will be on display. Also on site will be an old fashioned ice cream truck, a food vendor, a children's bake sale and an amazing DJ and jazz singer!
Ottawa Mommy Club Picnic
The second annual Ottawa Mommy Club Picnic in support of CHEO will be held on Saturday June 23rd from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Museum of Science and Technology, 1867 St Laurent Blvd. We are inviting all family members to participate rain or shine as we reserved a room inside in case of bad weather. Activities: Dance Drama with Peacock Dynasty, Kindermusik Family Class with Tanya Campbell, fitness class with Kangaroo Fitness, meet a princess from Little Party Princess Fun and more! 2012 Seniors’ Tea
MP Royal Galipeau invites all seniors living in the constituency of Ottawa–Orléans to join him at the seventh annual Seniors’ Tea. The event will be held on Wednesday, June 27 at 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 800 Taylor Creek Blvd., Orléans. Delicious light snacks and entertainment will be part of this free event. Canada Day at the Legion

Greater Orleans Canada Day Celebration
On July 1, at Petrie Island a whole host of activities has been planned starting at 11 a.m. This year’s performances include: Eric’s Academy of Music “Canada Day Band-Off", “God Keep Our Land- Glorious and Free” Gospel Concert, The Art Vandelays, Drew Nelson Band, karaoke in the beer tent, opening ceremony will feature Victoria Powell and local politicians. There will also be a Children’s Zone complete with: Circus Delights, Official Princesses, Ray’s Reptiles, Radical Science, family Olympics and beach volleyball. There will be concessions on site. Take a walk on Canada Day

Free Community Summer Playgroup
Everyone is welcome to join the Abiding Word Lutheran Church at 1575 Belcourt Blvd. in Orléans, for a FREE playgroup for children ages 0 – 5. It runs weekly on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. between July 11 – August 22. Each week your child will participate in fun, Christian based activities such as story time, crafts and more! Enjoy meeting other parents in your community in a relaxing environment over the summer. Volunteers needed at Madonna nursing home in Orleans
Residents need assistance with feeding, primarily at dinnertime. Also, friendly faces are needed to take residents for walks or activities held at Madonna. Or, just to engage an isolated resident in conversation. This does not require more than a couple hours a week but will make a great difference in a resident’s life.
