Paul Macnamara, director of marketing with the fair, said this year will be bigger and better, thanks to a wide variety of Canadian musical acts and new activities.
On Friday, fair-goers will be entertained by Juno Award-winning band Trooper, coming off a historical performance at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
"I think it's safe to say we're going to 'raise a little hell'," Macnamara said. "Trooper is a great party band and it's going to be a lot of fun."
The fair will kick off on Thursday with a demolition derby, a mechanical bull contest and a performance by band Yesterday's Tomorrow. Also performing during the fair are rockers Harlequin, on Saturday night, and country music band Prairie Oyster on Sunday.
The fair will feature agricultural shows, a petting zoo, bed races, a full midway with rides, a pet parade, and even an alpaca show.
"Navan is such a cool and unique community in that it's a farming village but we have so much urbanization on top of us," Macnamara said. "The fact that we can continue to have a rural fair is really important to us."
Organizers are expecting to draw over 25,000 attendees, weather allowing. "As a community we enjoy welcoming people from all over," Macnamara said. "Families can come and enjoy all the activities during the day, and the parents can come back at night and have a great party."
In celebration of their 65th anniversary, entry for seniors is free. For more information about the fair and to win tickets, visit www.facebook.com/navanfair or www.navanfair.com
