The Ottawa Police Service observed the Transgender Day of Remembrance yesterday by unveilling a banner at its headquarters. The banner will be on display until Monday in an effort to commemorate this event and raise public awareness. The Transgender Day of Remembrance was established to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender or anti-transsexual hatred or prejudice. A Transgender March to Parliament Hill followed the flag raising ceremony in support of Bill C-389 which will add Gender Identity and Gender Expression to the Canadian Human Rights Code.
