The swearing-in ceremony for the new city council is taking place for the first time tonight at the Shenkman Arts Centre in Orléans.  The incoming administration of Mayor Jim Watson opted for a scaled-down ceremony with a reception catered by Tim Hortons.

Following the city-wide election held Oct. 25, the east end will be seeing some changes. Newcomer Tim Tierney ousted Michel Bellemare in Beacon Hill-Cyrville ward, and Stephen Blais defeated incumbent Rob Jellett in Cumberland. Innes ward councillor Rainer Bloess will be returning for another term, as will Orléans ward councillor Bob Monette.
