Galipeau gave them a certificate from Parliament to thank them for their commitment to the community. As has become customary in the past four years, the member for Ottawa-Orléans annually honours volunteers at the "Heart of Gold" Gala.

The master of ceremonies, Ron Conlin, hosted an animated and warm evening in the presence of Father Frank Brewer, of the Divine Infant Catholic Parish in Orléans.

Volunteers were honored for their achievements in various categories such as arts, community associations, school involvement and sports.

The different organizations themselves submit the nominations of candidates who have shown dedication throughout the year.

In his speech, Mr. Galipeau began: "The way you are recognized tonight, it's not only important to me, it is not only important for the groups that have designated you to come here, but it is as important to your colleagues. People need you. Keep it up! ".
