What started out as a wet Canada Day quickly turned into a warm, overcast celebration for those who ventured to Petrie Island for the annual July 1 festivities.

Hundreds gathered at the east-end location during the day for food, midway rides, demonstrations, entertainment, activities for the whole family and, of course, birthday cake. “Today, I am proud to join every Canadian across this great country in celebrating Canada Day; a day which reminds us how blessed we are to live in a country so strong, diverse and free,” Ottawa-Orléans MP Royal Galipeau said. “Happy Canada Day.” For photos from the event, check out the July 7 edition of the Orléans Star.
