Arts Council thanks community
Dear editor,
October 22 was an exciting evening at the Shenkman Arts Centre. The occasion was the ARTinis & Appetizers annual fundraiser for AOE Arts Council.
While the glittering décor, sumptuous food and artistic demonstrations created a magical evening, the contribution of countless volunteer hours by so many of our community leaders showed what can be accomplished when the business and artistic communities work together.
More than 250 people attended and significant funds were raised to support our efforts to provide programs, resources and services for the many arts organizations and individual artists in our community.
It would be impossible to list the many people and businesses who helped make the evening a success. However, special recognition must be given to the community members on our organizing committee who worked tirelessly with AOE staff: Ed Barr of Wall Space Gallery & Framing; Judith Cane of Antara Financial Group, Philippe Grandmaitre of Dust Evans, Shirley Hamre of Remax Metro City and Michael Curran, publisher of the Orléans Star.
The Shenkman Arts Centre became a true focal point for our community as business and political leaders and the artistic sector came together to celebrate the contribution of the arts to our cultural landscape.
We can’t wait to do it again, so mark your calendars for October 28, 2010 for the next AOE ARTinis & Appetizers.
