New Year’s Eve revellers can hitch a free ride on OC Transpo after 11 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31.
The free service is being offered in partnership by the city and Molson Coors Canada.
“Keep the festive season joyful by choosing OC Transpo as your designated driver on New Year’s Eve,” Mayor Larry O’Brien said in a statement.
In addition to the free service after 11 p.m., hours of operation for rapid transit routes 95, 96 and 97 will be extended during the early-morning hours of New Year’s Day, with the last trips leaving downtown at approximately 3:50 a.m.
This year, more than 15,000 people are expected to take the safe way home with OC Transpo on New Year’s Eve.
“Molson Coors Canada is delighted to be partnering with the City of Ottawa and OC Transpo in making this initiative happen,” said Jeremy Major, planning and execution manager for Molson Coors Canada. “We are proud to play our part to help people make the responsible choice to get home safely this New Year’s Eve.”
During the holidays, the City of Ottawa reminds citizens to plan a safe ride home and celebrate responsibly.
