Dan Boyle played the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons with the Gloucester Rangers of the Central Junior ‘A’ Hockey League.
Former Gloucester Ranger makes Team Canada grade
The east end can claim a little piece of helping out Team Canada as former Gloucester Rangers Jr. ‘A’ player Dan Boyle was named to the Canadian Olympic men’s hockey team today.
The current San Jose Sharks defenceman played two full seasons for the Rangers as a 16- and 17-year-old, scoring 49 goals and 105 assists in 108 games in total.
Boyle, a graduate of De La Salle high school in Lowertown, was one of seven defencemen named to Canada’s 23-player roster for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.
Canada begins play on Feb. 16 against Norway at 7:30 p.m. ET.
