O’Dell, Lalonde selected as OHL all-stars
Two former Cumberland hockey players have been selected to play in the Ontario Hockey League All-Star Classic Feb. 2-3 in Kingston.
Orléans native Shawn Lalonde and former Cumberland Grad Eric O’Dell will suit up for the Eastern Conference team.
O’Dell, the captain of the Sudbury Wolves, leads his team in scoring this year with 23 goals and 26 assists in 42 games.
Lalonde, a Belleville Bulls defenceman, is also the top scorer for his team despite playing on the back end, having registered nine goals and 25 assists in 35 games.
Meanwhile, Kingston Frontenacs defenceman Erik Gudbranson won’t get to play in the contest for the host club. The fifth-rated OHL player for this year’s NHL draft missed 10 games earlier this year due to a knee injury, and is presently still on the sidelines battling mononucleosis.
The All-Star Classic will feature a skills competition on Feb. 2 and a game on Feb. 3. Both begin at 7 p.m. at the K-Rock Centre.
