New cinema set to open Dec. 18
East-end film buffs waiting a year for a new cinema in Orléans will soon get a chance to step inside a state-of-the-art complex to catch new flicks.
Empire Theatres Limited, Canada's second-largest film and entertainment company, will open its new 10-screen entertainment complex on Dec. 18.
The 41,000-sq.-ft facility at the intersection of Innes Road and Belcourt Boulevard will feature 2,100 stadium-style seats in 10 auditoriums as well as a family interactive games zone and party rooms, according to Empire Theatres Limited.
The new complex is expected to employ about 60 people.
Empire Theatres Limited originally announced plans for the new cinema Oct 2008.
"We're excited," said Empire Theatre’s vice-president of media and studio relations Dean Leland at the time of the announcement. He also noted Innes Road is a "hot" development corridor, making it the perfect location for a new theatre.
