My local hero

We all know how to vocal our opinions when a service is bad, but we don’t always take the time to vocal the good and amazing things we encounter. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about my local hero – Audrey Richards.  Audrey is the Director at Fallingbrook’s School Age Program – owned and operated by Global Child Care Services.  I am a single mom of a 6 year old boy and this is the 4th daycare program I have enrolled my son into – but it is the first one I cherish.

When you walk into this daycare you will notice some unusual things – children and parents greet and hug Audrey almost on a daily bases. Audrey’s open door policy welcomes the children and they frequently like to visit her and chat.  When Audrey went away to Paris a year ago she brought a souvenir key chain with the Eifel tower on it for all of the kids.  She encourages them to display kindness, consideration, acceptances, tolerance and love.  Her generosity, compassion, devotion and huge heart are contagious – her staff of teachers is just as loving and caring and together they create the perfect environment for our children to flourish in.

For many daycares, being in Audrey’s position is a job – and believe me, I have dealt with some cold and distant managers before. For Audrey – this is her calling. She is the light that shines on and brightens all of our days. She fought endlessly to ensure that our children can continue enjoying this amazing daycare program despite many challenges regarding the changes in the daycare system. She attends numerous school council meetings to ensure that our children are kept safe and happy. I am sure that most of us are not even aware of the amount of time she dedicates to making sure that our children are well taken care of.

Recently Audrey dropped everything to escort one of her daycare children to CHEO in an ambulance despite the fact that this accident took place at the school and was not her responsibility. Her genuine love and care for these kids result in her treating them like her own.

I know for a fact that as parents of children in this daycare, we can all breathe easily knowing Audrey is in charge of our children. She is the best example of all that is good in human beings and is the perfect role model for our children.

Thank you Audrey for being such a gift in our lives, the world is a much better place with you in it!

As a former and soon to be again FSAP family I couldn't agree more with the article above. Audrey is a tremendous leader with a great heart who beams with pride for all the children under her care. Audrey's staff are no less fantastic than she is. Very grateful for the experience and care we have received from Audrey and her team!

Thanks Lori for sharing this with everyone! It is very well written and is very true. We all love what we do, but we do it because of the children and parents like you! Thanks for always supporting us and for all the wonderful things you say. It brought tears to my eyes and made me so proud to work at Fallingbrook, and especially with Audrey! Thanks again.
